PayByPhone announced that Sang Hwang has been named Regional Sales Director, Northeast. Hwang joins PayByPhone from Parkloco, where he was Head of Strategic Partnerships & Growth. In his new position he will oversee business development and partner relations initiatives throughout the northeast. “PayByPhone is in the midst of tremendous growth throughout the U.S. and Canada, and Sang Hwang will be a great addition to our team,” said Roamy Valera, PayByPhone’s CEO, U.S. and Canada.
TIBA is launching its new X60 family of lane and payment equipment, as part of the “Engaged Parking Experience” product line. This includes new lane and payment equipment, cloud solutions for PARCS management, a new mobile-based platform for digital operators, and a cross-brand parking intelligence service. Working toward the goal of being the first true “smart city,” the City of Anaheim has selected San Francisco-based Parking Sense to deploy its suite of intelligent parking solutions across nine locations and over 3,000 parking spaces. Use of the Parking Sense technology will reduce the time it takes to find parking by 50 percent. “The City of Anaheim realized that real-time parking data and wayfinding are critical components to reach efficiencies in utilization of our available parking supply,” said John Woodhead, City of Anaheim Community and Economic Development Director.

The Asheville Regional Airport parking deck was awarded the 2019 Commercial Airport Project of the Year—Architectural Project by the Southeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (SEC-AAAE). T2 Systems has partnered with EasyPark to expand paid parking to all public spaces on Granville Island in Vancouver, British Columbia. The new parking rules will help to increase parking availability and make it easier for drivers to find a space. APCOA PARKING has joined forces with Berlin’s public transport company, BVG, and a host of other partners to open a new intermodal mobility hub. With the first public private and fully integrated mobility hub right next to a highly frequented underground and commuter rail station, switching from local public transport to shared individual mobility (and vice versa) couldn’t be simpler or more convenient. The consortium behind the “Park_up” project, namely Fraunhofer IAO, veloCARRIER and evopark, has developed a solution for sustainable urban logistics in close cooperation with APCOA Parking Deutschland. Their concept envisages the use of publicly accessible parking spaces as transshipment hubs for cargo bikes.
Beginning today, people in Kitchener can use their smartphones to pay for parking. The Passport Parking app can be used at more than 1,500 on and off-street spaces throughout the city. “We’re very excited to provide this new offering to our customers,” said Kitchener manager of parking Paul McCormick. Introduced in 2015, the phone app offered by Passport can be used on most of the city’s 120-plus physical parking meters — or over 230 parking spots. “The mobile pay option is a convenience to those using the app,” said Maureen Ambrosia, the city’s parking supervisor. “By adding funds electronically, there is no interruption in the business you are conducting. The app eliminates the need to feed the meters continuously.”
