9/11, Security, Revenue -- Topics at PIE

The Parking Industry Exhibition -- which runs April 7-10, 2002, at the Holiday Inn O'Hare International in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, IL -- promises information far and beyond the information you will receive in the exhibit hall.
This year, session after session has a focus for management. Information of use not only to line managers, but to senior management and owners as well.
Number one will be a special seminar on security after 9/11. Chaired by expert Dale Denda, this session will bring answers to what may be required, what is being required, and how it will affect the parking owners and operators.
Did you know that construction costs have already gone up due to requirement set in place after 9/11? What responsibility will you have for personal security? (In Israel, it is the owners' and operators' responsibility to search vehicles before they enter a garage.) Will that happen here?
Special seminars designed for the particular needs of cities, airports, universities and facility owners. These seminars will provide expert presentations focused on topics of interest, plus enable attendees to question experts and get answers, or disagree with them. This is a place to solve problems and share information.
For the first time, PIE has gone outside the industry to bring Ron Jasniowski to speak on how to bring out the best in your employees and keep them, even when you can't give them pay raises. This is a seminar no one will want to miss.
Barbara Chance will report on the status of a revenue control survey run by her company and Parking Today. Discover what systems measure up, and what the biggest complaint from operators is about these computerized monsters.
As usual, you can attend PIE for one, two, or all three days, and only pay for the time you are there. In addition, you may, if you like, only attend the exhibits. Customize PIE to fit your requirements.
Come on Saturday, save a bundle on air fare, and spend Sunday touring Chicago parking operations, including this year, a view of their new on street Pay and Display operation in "Little Italy." In addition there will be tours of the University of Chicago revenue system as well as the city's huge operation in Grant Park. Final word has not been received as to whether or not a tour of O'Hare will be available. Security considerations may prevent it.
PIE officials have secured low-cost rooms at the Holiday Inn. Priced at just over $100, these rooms have been newly refurbished as part of the hotel's multi-million dollarrenovation.
More than 100 exhibitors from all walks of parking life will be on hand and will have more than 24 hours of exhibit time to show their wares and discuss the needs of individual attendees.
