PayByPhone celebrated success in 2020, launching in 19 new locations across North America. In addition, PayByPhone Maps was introduced to 149 locations. The parking guidance tool allows drivers to use the app to find available parking spaces. The maps are interactive and allow users to determine hours of operation and parking restrictions.


The City of West Hollywood’s Parking Services Division will launch a new digital “Permit-by-Plate” system for visitor parking permits so residents can skip a trip to the parking office at the Kings Road Garage. Instead, residents will be able to register for visitor parking permits through the web by using a computer or mobile device and visiting www.weho.org/parking. 


ZipBy USA hired Heather Matthews as Business Development Manager. In her role prior to joining ZipBy, Matthews led the implementation of pay by cell service for both the University and the City of Burlington while at the University of Vermont. Matthews also serves as the Vice President of the New England Parking Council (NEPC) and has held multiple roles as a parking industry board member with the NEPC and Women in Parking. 


The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham has installed Videalert CCTV enforcement cameras for pioneering temporary vehicle restriction zones to stop non-residents rat running through SW6 streets including Harwood Terrace, Imperial Road and Bagley’s Lane. The cameras use the latest ANPR technology to capture the number plates of motorists who enter these roads with fines issued to those that do not hold a valid Hammersmith and Fulham residents’ parking permit.


Despite a global pandemic, EVBox has reached another milestone of its base of installed charge ports. In November 2019, the charging solutions provider announced that it had installed 100,000 charge ports worldwide and marked this turning point by setting up the OneChargerOneTree initiative with a pledge to plant one tree for every new charge port placed. Since then, 100,000 trees have been planted, and a total of 200,000 charge ports have been placed.


Fleet Advantage announced their foundation, Kids Around the Corner made a donation of $15,000 to Women in Distress of Broward County, Inc., the only state-certified and nationally accredited domestic violence center in Broward County, Fla. The company also made a donation of $5,200 to The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program of Fort Lauderdale in collaboration with Walmart. SKIDATA has been selected by the San Francisco Municipal Transit Authority to create and install a state-of-the-art parking technology suite for the 5th & Mission Parking Garage. Located across the street from Bloomingdales and the Westfield Shopping Center. SKIDATA Inc. announced that it will be taking over all sales and service of its equipment throughout the Chicago area from Automated Parking Technologies, which is winding down its operations. The transition of services to SKIDATA will begin immediately and will be completed by January 2022.


Propark Mobility announced that Brian Cannon has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Operations. “Propark is excited to welcome Brian Cannon to our parking family,” said John Schmid, Propark’s Chief Executive Officer. “Brian has the intrinsic ability to improve the service experience for guests and expand client profitability for our partners.”


ParkMobile announced a new strategic partnership agreement with TIBA Parking Systems, a member of the FAAC group, to provide contactless payment options at gated garage locations. The company also announced the launch of new daily parking rates at the University of California, Davis campus. ParkMobile announced the launch of service at Virginia Tech. University community members are now able to use the ParkMobile app to quickly pay for parking at 15,000 spaces on campus, both on-street and in lots and garages. The company also announced the launch of service at Colorado State University. Students, faculty, and visitors will be able to use the ParkMobile app to quickly pay for parking in hourly designated campus parking areas and on the first floor of both campus garages.

Beam Global announced that the City of Santa Clara in partnership with Silicon Valley Power deployed EV ARC solar-powered EV charging systems to serve city fleet vehicles and the public. The company also announced that the State of California has extended Beam Global’s contract to supply EV ARC systems to State of California Departments and other governmental entities. Beam Global announced deliveries of 33 EV ARC systems in the fourth quarter of 2020. Deployments of the flagship EV ARC sustainable EV charging system were made to enterprise, municipal government, Federal government and utility customers, for public, workplace and fleet vehicle charging. 


Rekor Systems, Inc. announced that it released a major update to its automatic license plate and vehicle recognition software, Rekor Scout, formerly known as Rekor Watchman. The new version of Scout adds extensive new privacy, security and sharing controls for its commercial and government users.


Park Assist, recently merged with TKH Security, has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. UTSW is one of the premier academic medical centers in the nation with over 15,000 employees and faculty and over 2.7 million outpatient visits per year. Park Assist has been awarded the Parking Guidance System contract for Marassi Galleria, Eagle Hills’ latest development project located within Marassi Al Bahrain. Marassi Galleria is a 200,000-square-meter shopping mall.


Delta, the new Parker Technology software platform, is here. With this major software update, the platform is faster, more stable and extensible to more parking software platforms through APIs. Parker Technology has won, for the second year in a row, a Powderkeg National Tech Culture award. Based on survey data collected from employees at hundreds of companies across the U.S., Parker Technology ranked highest for Top-Rated CX Team Culture. Parker Technology’s customer service solution is successfully providing live support for Water Street Parking, which serves an Apt Development Group luxury apartment building. The development group chose to implement the Parker Technology integrated FlashParking solution, and within 72 hours, it was live and fully-functional in the facility. The company is also providing live customer service support for City of Eugene Airport. Four pay-on-foot stations and 17 lanes now utilize Parker Technology’s integrated FlashParking solution.

The PKE system by CAME Parkare, thanks to a network of automatic devices, guarantees a better user parking experience, simplifying and speeding up the transit of users even in the absence of staff, and facilitates the search for parking spaces in an urban setting such as Trieste.

Coord announced the launch of its second annual Digital Curb Challenge: the Bounce Back Better Edition. Starting today, cities and other curb managers, such as universities, airports, private developments, health systems and conference centers, across North America can apply to partner with Coord to undertake a free curb space management pilot program. 


The City of West Palm Beach and Metro Nashville, in partnership with Coord, announced the launch of the their first-ever Smart Zone pilot. This follows their selection by Coord as two of four U.S. cities to participate in the company’s inaugural Digital Curb Challenge to undertake a brand-new curb management program. 


Duke has added two 40-foot electric buses to its campus fleet as the company takes another sustainable step toward carbon neutrality by 2024. Each 40-foot Proterra ZX5 bus carries up to 40 seated passengers and operates for about 200 miles on a single charge. The battery-electric buses release zero tailpipe emissions, require no oil changes and use no liquid fuels.


Louisiana State University, located in Baton Rouge, is the flagship university of the Pelican State. netPark Software LLC announces the launch of their Truck Parking Software Solution for truck parking owners and business operators. The trucking industry requires a safe and secure place to park their trucks and trailers while not in use Truck Parking is similar to other forms of parking, but it does have its differences and netPark understands this.


Tattile is glad to present an intelligent mobile parking enforcement solution, allowing targeted personal intervention when the system detects an actual parking offense. A driver can use a mobile parking App to book and pay a parking area for time needed. This can be done by entering the car license plate and the credit card data. Alternatively, the user can pay directly at the parking meter by inserting plate number of the car and selecting duration.


REEF Technology announced a partnership with TIBA Parking Systems. REEF and TIBA will provide parking operators and landlords with a PARCS system paired with built-in access to REEF’s ecosystem of applications and additional revenue sources. This allows for traditional parking lots to create new revenue streams by transforming isolated parking facilities to connected and dynamic mobility hubs.


Centerpark has invested in Manhattan’s United Nation’s district. Centerpark has recently acquired another location at 225 East 46th Street, New York, NY 10017. Brian Ezratty, Vice Chairman of Newmark, represented both the buyer and seller in this transaction which was arranged and closed in less than 45 days in an all-cash deal.


A.lot Parking offers a digital cloud-based system that enables multiple ways to set dynamic pricing or to authorize and accommodate various parking needs of customers, employees, vendors and associates. Videalert announced that it has achieved Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) approval for ‘Over the Air’ data transmission from mobile enforcement vehicles whilst in operation. This approval allows data to be ‘live-streamed’ using 4G/5G as it is captured whilst the vehicles are on the move, eliminating the need for operators to manually download data from the on-board systems onto USB drives before uploading it to the Videalert platform. It also allows review operators to access the data and approve the automatically compiled evidence packs even more efficiently.
