Oxfordshire County Council has upgraded its bus lane enforcement system with the installation of a new automated platform from Videalert.  The new system replaces a manually operated network of cameras and has been installed to reduce journey times and improve air quality in and around the City of Oxford.


Barnacle has shifted its focus to aid healthcare and essential workers in 19 states who need personal protective equipment (PPE) while executing their jobs in public. Barnacle is now creating reusable face shields with the same materials it uses to manufacture cutting-edge immobilization devices. The company has donated more than 700 shields to date with an estimated retail value exceeding $63,000.

Coord announced that the City of Aspen, Nashville, the City of Omaha and the City of West Palm Beach have been selected as Pilot Cities for the 2020 Digital Curb Challenge.  Each Pilot City will partner with Coord on a Smart Zone pilot program tailored to its unique mobility challenges, with the goals of reducing congestion, improving safety and supporting local economic activity.

Flowbird has launched a ‘no touch’ automatic hand sanitizer technology to help safeguard potentially millions of motorists and transport passengers around the world in conjunction with reduced COVID-19 lockdowns. The company has developed ‘Park & Sanitize’ – a contactless hydroalcoholic gel dispenser that attaches to Flowbird parking pay stations and transport ticket vending machines. Drivers in Tacoma will now have the option for a ‘touchless experience’ when paying for their parking downtown. The launch of a new mobile parking application, Flowbird App, will bring ultimate convenience to motorists, allowing users to safely pay for parking with their iPhone or Android devices.

Purdue University recently obtained two GO-4 parking specific vehicles from Westward Industries. The GO-4 vehicles will support the university’s efforts to expand their mobility, transportation, and parking management operations, elevating their on-street and lot presence while increasing mobile reads within their mobile LPR systems. Westward Industries recently conducted an efficiency study to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of parking enforcement operations, while creating a safe alternative for parking staff to perform their daily operations. The study found that parking-specific vehicles significantly increase PEO citation rates over walking. 


The tolling infrastructure in the Republic of Serbia currently covers over 900 highway kilometers with 65 toll plazas; a dense network that requires quick and efficient throughput of vehicles in order to provide a minimum time delay for all drivers. On about 270 toll lanes Tattile Vega Basic short-range cameras are installed for automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) purposes, one camera per lane located at the lane entrance.


LF Wade International Airport has chosen Mobile Smart City to provide Hectronic’s Parking Access and Revenue Control solution for the new airport on the Island. Mobile Smart City will install Hectronic’s Hectwin solution for their short-term parking lot, along with access control at their security entrance and a contactless RFID solution for their taxi location.


The Village of Pleasantville NY has entered into a partnership with Mobile Smart City Corp., to provide PangoMobile Payment for their parking operations.  “We are excited to bring the Village our customer friendly, easy-to-use safe app,” explained John J. Incandela President & CEO of Mobile Smart City. John continued, “Customers can now manage their parking experience via their mobile phone. The app will combine the ease of paying for parking with funding source choices of credit card, Pango Wallet, supported by PayPal, and Venmo. Pango also offers the flexibility to park up to four vehicles at once, anywhere Pango is accepted”.


Pango users can manage their own account with the app or they can go to the website www.mypango.com, sign in and they can make changes, add or delete vehicles, review their parking history and more. Fleet Advantage announced the Fleet Advantage Safety First Program, helping transportation fleets upgrade into newer trucks with advanced safety features. Companies cannot afford to drive obsolete equipment that places their company and drivers at risk. Under the program, Fleet Advantage purchases 2017 and older model tractors and leases them back for an interim period. Fleet Advantage has been awarded by Food Logistics Magazine as a ‘Top Green Provider’ for 2020.  The award recognizes the company as a leader in the sustainable food supply chain for improving efficiencies and reducing food distribution emissions. Fleet Advantage was previously named to Food Logistics’ ‘Top Green Provider’ list in 2019 and 2016.


ParkMobile has partnered with the City of Oxford to allow residents and visitors to make contactless parking payments through their mobile device. The company also announced new partnerships with South Orange Parking Authority and the City of Easton to provide contactless payments in the area. It will also lead a new initiative with the City of Stamford, Connecticut, to reduce the number of people touching the physical parking equipment by encouraging use of the app for parking payments. ParkMobile is also part of a new initiative with the Lancaster Parking Authority to promote contactless parking payments in order to reduce the number of people touching the meters. The company reports it has reached the 19 million user milestone. While COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the parking industry, ParkMobile has continued to grow as demand for contactless parking payment solutions has dramatically increased. The company expects to hit 20 million users by September this year.
