PayByPhone announced that Sang Hwang has been named Regional Sales Director, Northeast. Hwang joins PayByPhone from Parkloco, where he was Head of Strategic Partnerships & Growth. In his new position he will oversee business development and partner relations initiatives throughout the northeast. “PayByPhone is in the midst of tremendous growth throughout the U.S. and Canada, and Sang Hwang will be a great addition to our team,” said Roamy Valera, PayByPhone’s CEO, U.S. and Canada. 


TIBA is launching its new X60 family of lane and payment equipment, as part of the “Engaged Parking Experience” product line. This includes new lane and payment equipment, cloud solutions for PARCS management, a new mobile-based platform for digital operators, and a cross-brand parking intelligence service. These new solutions will allow operators to reduce overall operational costs, increase efficiency, simplify installation and serviceability, and increase security of systems. 


The Phoenix Convention Center has installed one of the fastest, most advanced Level 2 EV Charging Stations on the market in the East Garage in partnership with Blink Charging Co. The garage has six smart Blink units and a kiosk unit to initiate the charge. The upgrade of these EV charging stations is part of the convention center’s commitment to sustainability.

Working toward the goal of being the first true “smart city,” the City of Anaheim has selected San Francisco-based Parking Sense to deploy its suite of intelligent parking solutions across nine locations and over 3,000 parking spaces. Use of the Parking Sense technology will reduce the time it takes to find parking by 50 percent. “The City of Anaheim realized that real-time parking data and wayfinding are critical components to reach efficiencies in utilization of our available parking supply,” said John Woodhead, City of Anaheim Community and Economic Development Director.

More and more vehicles are coming equipped with connected car services and in-car assistants like Amazon’s Echo Auto will soon turn millions of cars into voice-activated, connected vehicles with the ability to purchase Arrive-powered parking simply by saying, “Alexa, find me parking.” Similar services will be available from Apple, Google and the automakers themselves. Parking sits at the intersection of three major trends: mobility as a service, the connected car, and smart cities.


SpotHero and TIBA announced a strategic partnership to power a 360-degree view of online and offline parking demand data, advanced yield management capabilities, and frictionless redemption for a better parking customer experience. This long-term partnership introduces a standardized process for implementing online reservations and joint product yield management via TIBA’s parking API, SmartConnect, SpotHero’s parking mobility platform and SpotHero’s network of high-demand off-street facilities across 300 markets in the U.S. and Canada.


AppyParking, the curbside management and smart parking technology firm, and the City of London Corporation have confirmed the launch of real-time occupancy of accessible bays across the City. Using AppyParking’s smart sensor solution, Blue Badge holders can now use the free AppyParking mobile app to not only see the locations of accessible bays across the City of London but also check to see if they’re available. 


HonkMobile (Honk) recently unveiled its newest product: the world’s first virtual parking meter – HonkTAP. Honk’s virtual parking meter uses NFC technology and ApplePay to allow drivers to pay for parking with just a tap of their iPhone. Once parked, drivers simply tap their iPhone on the posted NFC signage and walk away, knowing that their parking is paid. “HonkTAP marks an entirely new era for parking,” said Michael Back, Honk Founder & CEO.


TagMaster AB (publ) (“TagMaster”) has completed the acquisition of Sensys Networks Inc (“Sensys Networks”). The purchase price was USD 16 million on a debt and cash free basis with adjustment of net working capital as of the closing date against normalized net working capital. Sensys Networks, established 2003, is a provider of advanced data solutions for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Sensys Networks offers a comprehensive wireless platform, addressing today’s most challenging traffic and parking data needs.

DMP is pleased to announce the promotion of Paul Wassem to Director of Sales – West. Paul joined DMP four years ago as the Dealer Development Manager for the Northern California territory. He will continue to play a pivotal role with many of DMP’s most valued clients in California. DMP is also pleased to announce the promotion of Derek Ottman to Director of Sales – Central. Derek has been with DMP for over four years. In addition to his sales director duties, Derek continues to serve dealers in the new Upper Midwest territory while DMP seeks a candidate to fill this vacant Dealer Development Manager position.


Clark Pacific announced that PARC, its single-sourced solution for pre-engineered parking structures, now features PARC Configurator, a rapid design tool that meets owner-driven requirements and objectives with conceptual parking structure designs based on Clark Pacific’s standards and prefabrication strategies. “The configurator is the next step in the evolution of PARC, allowing for rapid iterations that validate and optimize the structure design,” said Farid Ibrahim, product manager of parking solutions for Clark Pacific. 


The Asheville Regional Airport parking deck was awarded the 2019 Commercial Airport Project of the Year—Architectural Project by the Southeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (SEC-AAAE). Tindall Corporation manufactured the architectural precast concrete that helped create the iconic exterior design that seamlessly blends with the airport’s Blue Ridge Mountain landscape. “It’s an honor to be recognized for such an architecturally unique project,” said David Britt, Vice President and General Manager of the South Carolina Division. 


T2 Systems has partnered with EasyPark to expand paid parking to all public spaces on Granville Island in Vancouver, British Columbia. The new parking rules will help to increase parking availability and make it easier for drivers to find a space. Granville Island—a popular tourism, shopping, and entertainment destination—has over 1,200 parking spots but faces congestion challenges during peak times. 


SKIDATA has taken home the Product Innovation award at the 10th annual Stadium Business Summit for their NFC e-ticket solution. SKIDATA and Apple offer a contactless, barcode-less wave of the iPhone for fast, frictionless entry- with no touch of a button. Tap+Go allows users to simply wave their phone near the reader, eliminating the search for tickets and need for an aligned barcode scan. At Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, the NFC ticketing solution is already underway at the stadium, alongside SKIDATA turnstile gates.


The latest innovation of Quercus is HHR – High Reliability Recognition. Two SmartLPR Access cameras are installed on the same lane in order to get a “double reading” of the license plate. A camera captures the front plate while a second one reads the rear plate. Combining both captures, the reliability rate increases. HHR combines convenience with efficacy. Its reliability reaches much more than 99 percent in the majority of countries. 


Park Assist has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) for Fifth + Broadway located in Nashville, TN. All six acres of the old Nashville Convention Center site is being transformed into Fifth + Broadway, which is soon to be a mixed-use destination in the heart of Nashville. 


Park Assist’s M4 camera-based PGS and Wayfinding signage will be installed into the two-level garage containing 787 parking stalls.

APCOA PARKING has joined forces with Berlin’s public transport company, BVG, and a host of other partners to open a new intermodal mobility hub. With the first public private and fully integrated mobility hub right next to a highly frequented underground and commuter rail station, switching from local public transport to shared individual mobility (and vice versa) couldn’t be simpler or more convenient. The consortium behind the “Park_up” project, namely Fraunhofer IAO, veloCARRIER and evopark, has developed a solution for sustainable urban logistics in close cooperation with APCOA Parking Deutschland. Their concept envisages the use of publicly accessible parking spaces as transshipment hubs for cargo bikes. 


Beginning today, people in Kitchener can use their smartphones to pay for parking. The Passport Parking app can be used at more than 1,500 on and off-street spaces throughout the city. “We’re very excited to provide this new offering to our customers,” said Kitchener manager of parking Paul McCormick. Introduced in 2015, the phone app offered by Passport can be used on most of the city’s 120-plus physical parking meters — or over 230 parking spots. “The mobile pay option is a convenience to those using the app,” said Maureen Ambrosia, the city’s parking supervisor. “By adding funds electronically, there is no interruption in the business you are conducting. The app eliminates the need to feed the meters continuously.”


T2 Systems has opened registration for its annual Connect conference. Connect 2019 will take place in Tucson, AZ beginning Monday, November 18, 2019 through Thursday, November 21. The new Parkhound app is set to bring welcome relief to commuters with an easier, more convenient and affordable way to find and book over 40,000 long-term parking spaces around Australia. CurbTrac, a Philadelphia based technology and consulting company, has announced a new software platform for cities, universities and parking operators to easily manage multiple parking payment applications. CurbTrac provides enterprise solutions for our clients to increase the use of mobile payments in their operations by offering a centralized platform that allows multiple parking apps to be offered to their parkers for payment. 


ParkMobile recently announced a new partnership with the Town of Bar Harbor, ME. This partnership will allow users to pay for town parking from their mobile device. This integration will transform the parking experience for residents and visitors of Bar Harbor, allowing them to immediately begin using the system with their registered mobile device. “At ParkMobile, we are thrilled to expand our network to Bar Harbor,” says Jon Ziglar, CEO of ParkMobile.
