Tim Flanagan, Sentry Controls

With a heavy heart, I need to let you know that Tim Flanagan passed away. He went peacefully with his family at his side. Tim’s spirit and passion for his employees and our business was unmatched. One of my favorite things he always said was, “Take care of the employees and they will take care of your customers.” This couldn’t be more true, and for him, it was always about the people. He was so proud of the lives and families Sentry was able to touch. The personal sacrifice Tim and the Flanagan family endured to make Sentry what it is today is simply not common. We all owe him and the Flanagans a debt of gratitude for their sacrifice. 

We remember Tim fondly and keep in your heart the lessons he taught us, for it is now our responsibility to maintain the culture he championed. Take care of yourself and anyone who works for you. Happy employees who rave about our solutions and services will breed happy customers who rave about us.

Tim had a dedicated and industrious career in the parking access revenue control industry. He and Lisa started and along with his brother, Frank, built the largest service business in the industry between 1988 and 2017. Tim retired in 2017, after establishing an unmatched legacy for passionate customer service. Tim was an enthusiastic sports aficionado and athlete (tennis, golf and hockey), remaining a faithful Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He was a member of Desert Mountain (AZ), Wood Ranch Golf Club (CA), the Saticoy Club (CA), Sunset Hills Country Club (CA) and Bayview Golf and Country Club (Thornhill). 

A natural leader and entrepreneur, Tim had an unrivaled passion for life. He believed in people and strived to provide others with opportunities to succeed. His accomplishments were numerous but his most cherished times unquestionably were those spent with his wife Lisa, Megan and Casey whether traveling, off-roading, RV-ing or on other adventures. He will be profoundly missed by his loving family, cherished friends, colleagues and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Advanced Parking Concept’s Nenil Mathurin

Nenil Mathurin passed away in April after a short illness. He is survived by his wife and four children. He was 56.

Nenil was employed as a Location Manager by Advanced Parking Concepts (APC) for over 16 years. Amongt the locations Nenil was in charge of were Monmouth University, Verizon’s Corporate Office, and The Palisades Condominium. Nenil further served as the premier Lot Manager in APC’s Event Division. Wherever Nenil was assigned he left an indelible impression. Without doubt, Nenil was one of the most popular beloved managers in APC’s history.

Additionally, Nenil competed, captained, and coached in five National Parking Association Valet Olympic games and was honored as APC’s “Best Valet” four times. 

Most importantly was Nenil’s content of character. He was a loving, compassionate, loyal, and ethical human being. All of us at APC, and all of our clientele, will profoundly miss him. As the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote “Lives of great men all remind us, we can make our lives sublime, and departing, leave behind us, footprints on the sands of time”.
