Bonnie Horning, Administrative Assistant at R.A. Smith National — a Brookfield, WI-based civil and structural engineering and surveying firm — has obtained her Certified Administrative Professional designation from the International Association of Administrative Professionals.
Nate Phillips has joined the parking reservation service SpotHero as its West Coast General Manager. With more than 16 years in the parking industry, he’s expected to help the company grow its presence on the West Coast and position it as the leading parking reservation service.

The UK’s largest private carpark operator, National Car Parks (NCP), has signed a partnership with parking retailer ParkCloud. Focusing initially on airports, the pact will enable it to retail spaces across NCP’s airport carparks, with locations including London Heathrow and Birmingham and Edinburgh airports.

 
The City of Vancouver, WA, facing the challenges of downtown development, combined with an aging parking infrastructure, will be implementing a new “smart parking” system supplied by Parkeon, the worldwide leader in on-street parking technology. The new system, locally supported by partner DGM Systems, is scheduled to launch this fall and serve about 400 parking spaces. In related news, the City of Sacramento has partnered with Parkeon, also a global leader of urban mobility technology, to design the “SacPark” app. Available this fall, the app is intended to make it “easier to locate a parking spot, purchase parking in advance, provide information on space availability, and obtain real-time traffic information.” In other news, Parkeon has launched Apple Watch integration with its Whoosh! parking payment app, which is designed to give parkers the user-friendly capability of paying for parking from mobile devices and extending time from anywhere.

 
Municipal Parking Services (MPS), the world’s leading manufacturer of “smart parking” meters, and Cardis Enterprises International have signed an agreement to implement the latter’s proprietary aggregation technology for the cost effective processing of low-value electronic payments into MPS parking meters.

BD Loops, the leading manufacturer of preformed direct-burial and saw-cut inductance loops, has purchased and moved into a new facility at 8161 Monroe Ave. in Stanton, CA. The structure is more than twice as large as its old building. Plus, it has two sliding gates and multiple rollup overhead doors that will be used for in-house testing of products and installation layouts and techniques.

The City of Provincetown is the latest Massachusetts location to launch Passport, a mobile payment service designed to allow drivers to pay for on-street parking meters from the convenience of their smartphones. Provincetown parkers can not only pay from the app, but also monitor their parking session, review all parking history, and remotely extend their parking (up to the maximum allotted time).

 
NelsonNygaard Consulting Associates has announced two promotions to Principal. Pete Costa, based in San Francisco, “builds community value through great planning and robust communication,” the architecture and planning firm says. He has more than 10 years of transportation planning and traffic operations experience. And Boris Palchik, from the Boston office, is an expert in transit service design and redesign. He has worked extensively in communities that host major institutions, such as universities and military installations.

 
Andrew Hamilton has joined Parkmobile LLC as Chief Technology Officer. The 20-year technology veteran will play a key role in shaping the company’s technology strategy, it said, “driving major initiatives to fuel its next phase of growth and strengthen its leadership position as the most widely-used mobile parking solution in the country.”

StadiumPark, a mobile payment app for stadium, arena and event parking, will launch at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey show Sept. 9-11 at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, CA. The app is designed to provide attendees with a quick, easy and cash-less way to pay for their parking at the show, and thereafter at Bakersfield Condors American Hockey League games and other events hosted at the arena. All parking lot entrances managed by AEG will accept StadiumPark.
