 The City of Sacramento continues its commitment to implement advanced technology in order to enhance the user experience by partnering with Parkeon, a global leader of urban mobility technology, to design the SacPark app. The app, which will be available early Fall 2016, will make it easier to locate a parking spot, purchase parking in advance, provide information on space availability, and obtain real-time traffic information.


The launch of the new app will be integrated into a public education campaign and online navigation tool that will highlight information on various transportation options when traveling to downtown and Golden 1 Center, including: light rail, ride share, and bicycles. Parkeon is collaborating with Parking Panda, the nation’s leading app for on-demand parking. The company has launched a new feature for its Whoosh! mobile parking payment application at the 2016 Pacific Intermountain Parking Transportation Association (PIPTA) Conference & Expo. The Whoosh! app gives parkers the user-friendly capability to be able to pay for parking from their mobile devices and extend time from anywhere. Parkeon has recently added the exciting new ability to use the Whoosh! app on the Apple Watch and had this feature on display for the first time at this year’s PIPTA Conference.

 

SKIDATA, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of SKIDATA AG is pleased to announce an update for 3M/Federal APD equipment owners. As previously announced, in 2015 SKIDATA purchased 3M’s Parking Business software (EFMS, ScanNet) and firmware, along with PARCS equipment drawings, gaining the exclusive right to develop and produce 3Ms parking products (formerly known as Federal APD). Since then SKIDATA has been working on providing various solutions on how to run 3M / FAPD hardware with SKIDATA software (Parking.Logic) and develop a migration offer for 3M / FAPD customers.

 

Emanuel J. Eads has joined the Board of Directors of Walker Parking Consultants, the world’s leading parking consulting and design firm. “For many years, [he] has stood out as one of the parking industry’s leading executives,” said John Bushman, the firm’s Chairman. “We are excited to have someone with his extensive parking industry experience on our Board as Walker embarks on its second 50 years.” In other news, Michael Connor has joined the firm as a Senior Parking Consultant. He will manage parking planning projects, while leading and expanding its studies and CPMS practice in the Mid-Atlantic States and the Carolinas. 

 

CivicSmart Inc., an innovator of patented on-street parking sensors and other “smart parking” technologies, exhibited at the Smart Cities Innovation Summit in mid-June in Austin, TX, with Current powered by GE, an energy startup within GE’s walls servicing “intelligent cities,” as well as commercial and industrial customers. The Summit highlights best-of-breed technology companies offering leading Internet of Things solutions for “smart city” applications.

 

Propark America has launched its newly redesigned corporate website. “We’re delighted to unveil the new Propark.com,” said CEO John Schmid. “The clean, modern, responsive design streamlines the process for people looking for affordable parking across the country, and allows for an assured user experience with convenient, secure online monthly parking payments.” In other news, the company announced that it has become a Titanium Partner of Women In Parking. “[It] is a transformative association for the parking industry,” Schmid said. “We are extremely proud to contribute to the ongoing endeavor of the empowering woman in the workforce and with our industry through this partnership.”

 

Cale America, a leading supplier of payment technology, has signed on as a sponsor of the 100 Club of Chicago, which provides for the families of the area’s first responders killed in the line of duty. The group is “a perfect fit to [our] strategy of supporting children and families in need,” company President Andreas Jansson said. “When we heard about its incredible mission, we didn’t hesitate to sign up.” Said 100 Club CEO Joe Ahern: “Its support will go a long way in helping [us] fulfill our mission. ...”

The Intelligent Transportation Society of America hosted its annual event in mid-June in San Jose, CA. It brought together Inrix Inc. VP and GM of Parking Alex Israel and other experts in tech and transportation to discuss the latest in safety, efficiency and sustainability. The ParkMe Co-Founder spoke on a panel alongside experts from Xerox, IBM and Siemens about making cities “smarter” by improving efficiency and safety through “connected” navigation and parking. In other news, Inrix was at the TU-Automotive Detroit conference (formerly Telematics Detroit) to showcase its connected car services, including a Parking platform powered by ParkMe. 

 

Mark Edinger has been appointed Business Development Manager, South, of Dur-A-Flex Inc., a leading manufacturer of commercial, industrial and institutional seamless, resinous floor and wall systems. With a background in sales, he brings nearly a decade’s worth of experience within the flooring industry. 

 

Complus Data Innovations celebrated its 30th anniversary in June. Three decades of experience, the company said, has transformed it into the technology leader in parking management solutions for more than 200 municipalities, state agencies and universities across the country. “We are proud to celebrate our 30th anniversary with wonderful clients and an outstanding team,” President Jeff Grossman said. It is marking this milestone with initiatives throughout the year, including the introduction of integration options, new enforcement tools, the launch of a web-based solution, and a new software release.

As parking reservation service SpotHero celebrates its fifth anniversary this summer, the company is unveiling what it calls a new look that “better reflects the savviness and sophistication of its drivers.” The rebrand is the latest step as it seeks to further improve the user experience through design, product updates and new features that “make life easier for drivers across the country.” In other news, Anthony Broad-Crawford has joined the company as Chief Product Officer. With 16-plus years’ experience, he will be responsible for product strategy and will focus on product design, user research, user experience, and data science.

 

Northgate Public Services (NPS) has launched NPS TaP, a secure, mobile, cloud-based enforcement and permits management solution for providers such as local authorities and housing associations. It is designed to offer significant efficiency gains and cost savings by delivering through mobile devices such as smartphones and on common IT infrastructure. The move, NPS said, opens up new markets for the company, which builds and runs some of the UK’s largest transport and ticketing programs.

 

ElDorado, a member of the REV Group, a leading manufacturer of motor vehicles for commercial, fire and emergency, and recreation markets, said it “maintains its momentum” with 37 years of history. “We keep in touch with the foundation of our company, always remembering why we are here: to build a quality product in a safe way,” said VP and GM Colby Bertrand. “We recently celebrated several 30-year anniversaries with our employees, so these people are highly experienced and take a lot of pride in what they are building. Cale America Inc.has announced that Shalini Hathiramani will oversee sales for Cale’s Southeast and Central U.S. territories. Based near Miami, Florida, Shalini (pronounced SHAW-lih-nee) will manage customer accounts in Cale’s home state of Florida, plus focus on growing Cale’s business in Georgia and the Tennessee and Ohio River Valley regions. Previously, Shalini served as the Parking and Transportation Budget Coordinator for her alma mater, Florida International University followed by stints at T2 Systems as a Product Consultant and as an account manager for Parkmobile.
