Scheidt & Bachmann U.S.A. Plans to Move Headquarters to Lowell, MA

March, 2016

Transportation and parking solutions provider Scheidt & Bachmann U.S.A. (S&B) has announced plans to relocate its North American subsidiary headquarters from Burlington, MA, to a larger facility in the state. Beginning Oct. 1, 2016, its principal place of business will be the Cross River Center, 1001 Pawtucket Blvd., Lowell, MA.

The company will occupy 72,000 square feet of renovated space on two floors within the 836,000-square-foot mixed-use building. The new facilities are designed to allow for a flexible, spacious and technologically advanced work environment for S&B employees.

Susan Nemetz, its Vice President of Fare Collections, commented that “management searched extensively within Massachusetts for an appropriate space that could accommodate our growing manufacturing, production and service need. We are very pleased with our new location in Lowell, which is growing in reputation as a hub for business development.”

S&B has occupied its current Burlington headquarters since 1995.

“We have enjoyed our Burlington location for two decades,” said company President John MacDonald. “There comes a time when business requirements must drive change. This is certainly the case with our relocation decision.

“Our new facility offers the right infrastructure to support our growing needs today and provides flexibility to accommodate planned growth in the years to come,” he said.

Since establishing its headquarters in Massachusetts, S&B U.S.A. has grown to become one of the largest providers of fare collection and parking solutions in the U.S.

In Massachusetts, the company has produced the MBTA’s automated fare collection (“Charlie Card”) system, as well as providing fare collection equipment and services to 11 of the state’s 15 regional transit systems. The company also was the vendor chosen by the Massachusetts Port Authority to develop the automated parking payment system used in the public garages at Boston’s Logan International Airport.
