 T2 Systems announced it ranked No. 444 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500™, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and energy tech companies in North America. Indianapolis-based T2, a national leader in parking technology with clients including the City of Houston, Harvard, UCLA, and Duke Universities, grew its revenue 134 percent during this period. T2’s chief executive officer and founder Mike Simmons credits a combination of new customers, services and acquisitions with the company’s revenue growth. “Over the last 21 years, T2’s portfolio of clients has grown to include universities, hospitals, airports, cities and private business campuses, all seeking an intuitive and customer-focused approach to making the parking experience as seamless as possible,” Simmons said. “This recognition is a credit to the strong team at T2.” T2, with headquarters at Keystone at the Crossing and an office in Vancouver, currently has 260 employees. 

 

Parkeon has announced that it has deployed a new smart parking system to the City of Norman, OK. The system includes multi-space parking meters, mobile parking payments, and the Parkeon CLOUD system. The purpose of the system is to help the City better manage its parking space inventory, while providing a high level of customer convenience.

The Parkeon Strada multi-space meters in Norman are configured for Pay by Space parking. The meters are solar powered and feature a full color 7” display screen to help quickly guide users through each parking transaction. The meters accept coins and credit/debit cards. 

Included in the multi-space parking meter solution, are two of Parkeon’s CLOUD services, City News and Validation Codes. City News will help the City push out news, events and other information in real-time, allowing the new parking technology to alert or inform residents and visitors of various happenings around the city

 

TIBA Parking Systems is proud to announce the addition of senior sales personnel to support and oversee sales, technology and support in North America. Mark Schleyer, Director of Sales, Eastern Region Mr. Schleyer brings over 20 years of technology sales and sales management to TIBA. Mark has been in the parking industry for a number of years, having worked for Aparc Systems and Parktoria providing integration, data aggregation, and software technologies to on-street and off-street clients.  Prior to entering the parking industry, Mark was a top producer for software companies Sungard Data Systems and Scriptlogic.  

 

Mark S. Phillips, Director of Sales, Western Region Mark joins us from TIBA Partner i3Concepts out of Dallas where he was responsible for the company’s Parking Division. Mark’s background includes Federal APD, where he was Regional Sales Manager of the Southwestern District for Parking/Access Control and revenue management systems. During his time with Federal APD, Mr. Phillips was successful at forging several long term and highly prosperous relationships that produced many high profile and profitable projects. Mr. Phillips worked with numerous Dealers and Integrators, as well as led the efforts of direct business in selected marketplaces.

 

Matty Roter, CTO 

Matty is an experienced, result-oriented, R&D manager with a track record of achievements in managing large and complex R&D projects.  Before joining TIBA he was VP R&D in various startups and mid-size enterprises including Level 8 Systems (middleware), Baobab (call centers), Itemfield (acquired by Informatica) and SuperDerivatives (acquired by ICE).  Matty has significant experience running multiple R&D teams using agile methodologies as well as DevOps and IT teams. 

 

The City of College Park, MD, has launched MobileNOW! in selected downtown areas “as yet another payment option to metered parking,” said Jim Miller, Parking Enforcement Manager. “Long been used in neighboring cities and counties, [it] is highly regarded in the pay-by-cell industry. [We] look forward to a long-term relationship ... in hopes of moving our technology forward.” MobileNOW! has integrated with the city’s Metric multispace meters for streamlined real-time enforcement.

 

On behalf of The Medve Group, a Dallas-based private real estate investment company, JLL Capital Markets experts have announced that the firm completed the sale of Park Express, a 1,760-stall parking garage on Natural Bridge Road in St. Louis. The garage, just south of I-70 and directly off I-170, was purchased for $8.105 million. 

 

As part of a global deal, Parkopedia will provide Sygic with premium off-street parking information and a reservation integration. The new service, set to start this month, will enable the navigation app’s users to not only find parking, but also book and pay for it. Sygic Founder-CEO Michal Stencl commented: “Parking is a key component of the complete navigation experience. We are delighted to take it to the next step for our users in terms of better coverage, higher accuracy, and the integration of bookings and payments.”

 

Increased automation, more extensive self-service, greater use of business intelligence and the introduction of real-time communications feature prominently in the progressive and far-reaching digitization program of the Leeds (UK) City Council parking operation. And Imperial Civil Enforcement Solutions (ICES) is helping the council’s parking team to ensure that such values are followed through in all areas of enforcement, including on- and off-street enforcement, bus lane enforcement and permit management. 

 

The National Parking Association (NPA) has named Leslie Jones, CMP, as its Director of Education.“Leslie brings a strong association background in education, having managed certifications, learning programs and professional development,” said NPA President Christine Banning, CAE. “Her experience in leading in-person convention and education events will add to NPA’s bench strength in developing world-class parking professional development programs.”

 

The L&R Group of Companies has announced the national expansion of its LA-based parking operator, Joe’s Auto Parks. The company has more than 60 years of operational experience and a diverse operating background in all aspects of the parking industry. National expansion opportunities will include airports, transportation, hospitals, office buildings, municipal contracts, hotels and restaurants, and residential and retail.

The on-demand parking service SpotHero has made two key executive hires: Kristen Cho as Digital Marketing Director and Elissa Beckman as Head of Talent and Recruiting. Both will join the company’s leadership team to help accelerate growth following a $20 million Series B, led by Insight Venture Partners, in August. 

 

Max Corotis has joined Cale America as Director of Sales for the U.S. Market. His responsibilities will include development and oversight of the company’s direct sales team, operator partnerships, and indirect channel sales and marketing.

 

R.A. Smith National, a multi-disciplined civil and structural engineering and surveying firm, has been granted a Section 333 Exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This allows the firm to use an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to operate commercially within the guidelines established by the FAA through an associated blanket certificate of authorization. The company is considered an early user of

this technology and subsequent use for research and

development purposes.

 

Park Assist has opened a regional office in downtown San Francisco. This comes, said CEO Gary Neff, “in response to added clients and a growing interest in camera-based parking guidance systems on the West Coast.” 

 

At the University of Southern California, Bomel Construction is working on a design-build parking structure at its University Park campus. The 1,300-stall, six-level garage is sandwiched between a Shrine Auditorium and a high-rise apartment complex. It will provide spaces for students, workers and visitors of University Village, a 1.25-million-square-foot residential and retail center under construction immediately to the west of the Shrine. The $650-million complex will include a cluster of five-story residence halls housing up to 2,700 students, a grocery store, drugstore, restaurants, and outdoor dining and gathering spaces. Completion is scheduled for summer 2017.

Mike Nickolaus has been named President and CEO of CivicSmart Inc., a global provider of on-street parking equipment and transportation technologies. He also will serve on its Board. Since July 2015, Nickolaus has been assisting with the transition and integration of Duncan Parking Technologies, which was acquired from Duncan Solutions to complement the company’s vehicle sensing and systems integration capabilities and to expand its client base.

ReserveC, a leading provider of “white label” reservation technology, has chosen Worldpay, a global payments processor and industry leader in integrated payments, as its preferred payments processing provider. This will allow parking, self-storage and auto service customers who use the online central reservation system to process credit/debit card payments with ease on a secure platform backed by live 24/7 U.S.-based customer care.

 

ParkHub.com has selected Blue Star Payment Solutions as a preferred processing partner within its Parking Revenue Inventory Management Enterprise mobile point-of-sale platform, which is purpose-built for the needs of parking lot attendants. This alliance is designed to let them process credit cards, record cash payments, and validate QR/barcodes from pre-purchased parking reservations. 

 

HonkMobile recently launched its partnership with the City of Oshawa, Canada, at a City Hall ceremony. Now available for all on-street parking spaces and off-street surface lots in the city’s downtown, the app enables motorists to pay for parking using their smartphone, in addition to traditional payment methods.

 

Chris McKenty has joined Sentry Control Systems as VP of Sales, West Region. He is, the company says, “a pioneering evangelist of ‘cloud’ technologies,” having co-founded one of the earliest SaaS businesses that supplied cloud-based parking solutions to international airports and carpark managers and owners. In his new position, McKenty will promote, grow and develop Sentry’s product lines throughout the Western U.S., while supporting the company’s marketing efforts.

The University of San Diego ((USD), with the goals of making parking payment a more convenient experience and expanding paid parking for non-permit holders, turned to Parkeon for help. The company deployed 10 additional Strada paystations, all featuring full-color display screens. That’s designed not only to make each parking transaction more user-friendly, but also to allow the university to benefit from the Parkeon Smart Center and display its school news and events on the paystations in real-time. Also, all of USD’s paid parking areas offer Parkeon’s Whoosh! mobile parking app.

 

Lighting industry veteran Roni Faller has joined Barron Lighting Group as its Midwestern Regional Vice President. She has a 20-plus-year track record of business development, sales strategies and marketing knowledge. Faller is responsible for the key account relationships, regional strategies, growth and training within her territory for Barron, the originator of the LED Exit sign and brands such as Exitronix, Trace*Lite and specialtyLED.

 

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) has made several key staff promotions, aimed, it says, at increasing alignment and flow from the company’s technical documents to educational products.  Michael L. Tholen has been named ACI’s Managing Director of Engineering and Professional Development; Claire A. Hiltz, Manager of Professional Development; and Matthew R. Senecal, Manager, Engineering.
