Southland Printing Co. has made two additions to its sales team. Arthur “Art” C. Low Jr. has joined the company as an Outside Sales Representative. In the parking industry for more than 20 years, he has operated all types of valet, self-park, ambassador, shuttles, and municipal /university / hospital on- and off-street operations.  And John Cordaro has joined the company as a Sales Account Representative. He worked for nearly 10 years with the Independence Bowl Foundation as Director of Ticketing and Business Ops, including: managing ticket sales and operations and securing sponsorships and advertising.  

Empark (UK), the wholly owned subsidiary of Iberian parking company Empark Aparcamientos Servicios, S.A., has been awarded a contract to manage parking at London’s Gatwick Airport. It adds LGW to its operations at the London Stansted and Edinburgh airports. This means that the company now operates some 24 airports across Europe. Under the new contract, Empark becomes responsible for more than 40,000 parking spaces, and management of the terminal forecourts and the airport coach park.

Brian Skupien, Kevin Rey and Andrew Utic have joined R.A. Smith National, a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm based in Brookfield, WI. – Skupien as a Structural Engineer in its Structural Services Division; Rey as a Civil Engineer in its Land Development Services Division; and Utic as a Civil Engineer in its Transportation Division. 

To optimize traffic control, the University of Twente at Enschebe, The Netherlands, has recently equipped its campus with a new parking management system. With the installation of Nedap Sensit wireless parking sensors and the Vialis Vivaldi traffic management system, the “UTwente” becomes the world’s first university with a combined system for real-time parking detection and parking guidance. With more than 12.000 students, researchers and professionals visiting the campus on a daily basis, traffic has to be managed efficiently to avoid congestion, and to keep students and professors from running late for classes and meetings.

The RFID system from TagMaster North America was selected to help management conduct contractor audits in real-time for a demanding construction site in West Virginia. The premier general contractor has provided its recent worksite with a turnkey solution by installing TagMaster’s LR-3 readers with the embedded software Work FLO - Materials Management. The company’s long-range microwave readers and embedded software are designed to offer site supervisors accurate vendor-auditing transparency and efficiency in a simplified, all-encompassing system.

Parking at L.A.’s Union Station, one of the busiest rail centers in the U.S., is easier and more convenient than ever before. A parking technology package, developed and installed by Sentry Control Systems, combines six state-of-the-art Skidata access stations; two pay-on-foot stations permitting parkers to pay before returning to their vehicles; and RFID readers allowing employees and monthly parkers to enter and exit without interruption. The package also includes 5 e:Val validation kiosks through which parkers can receive discounted parking after patronizing Union Station establishments.

North American Manufacturing Enterprises, a “clean technology” organization and parent company of MHT Lighting and Power Metrics International, has appointed Kyle Leighton as Director of Marketing and Kirk Roller as Executive Vice President. 

NCP, the largest parking operator in the UK, has selected Advam as the exclusive provider to manage its card payment transactions; to assist through its “EMV journey”; and to process all non-cash payment transactions. The leading global provider of payment solutions was selected to manage the approximately 18 million annual transactions across the NCP parking portfolio. 

Tampa-based Cale America, the largest subsidiary of Sweden’s Cale Group, has launched a dedicated North American resource center, in Savannah. It will focus on development, support and training for the company’s online reporting service (Cale WebOffice) and its mobile payment platform (WayToPark) for the company’s base of more than 200 municipalities, college campuses, state and county parks systems, and parking operators in the U.S. and Canada.

NelsonNygaard Principal and Founding Partner Bonnie Nelson received two honors early this year – the WTS Lifetime Achievement award and the Livability Award from San Francisco’s Livable Cities organization. She founded the consulting firm in the Bay Area in 1987, a time when women struggled to have a place at the transportation table, both in professional and business terms. Nelson was a Founding Member and the first President of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (now WTS) in San Francisco.

The Parking Authority of Baltimore City has launched a web-based application and database management system, powered by iParq. With its launch, residents can now purchase both decals to adhere to the vehicle windshield and visitor’s permits in one transaction. In related news, parkers looking for monthly contracts at Baltimore City-owned garages are now able to use an online tool to find, apply for and pay for their parking. Its website, https://payments.bcparking.com, gives parkers information about available parking and more control over their accounts. 

Code Blue Corporation, an industry leading manufacturer of emergency communication solutions, has promoted David Salas to Chief Financial Officer and David Fleming to Chief Design Officer.

Salas joined Code Blue in 2013 as Corporate Controller. His duties include handling Code Blue’s financial duties, including accounting, and managing activities related to the development of new business opportunities.

Fleming, who joined Code Blue in 2012, will be overseeing all aspects of the user experience for the organization. He will be responsible for the processes, relationships and project management involved with growing Code Blue’s brand through marketing, public relations, product development and research.

Parkmobile, LLC announced today that its mobile payments solution is now available on campus at USF. Students, visitors, and faculty can now pay for parking with their smartphones using Parkmobile’s mobile applications for iPhone, Android, Windows, and Blackberry phones. The Parkmobile service is being offered at approximately 380 spaces around campus.
