The Park Tucson division of the Arizona city has partnered with Scheidt & Bachmann U.S.A. (S&B) to update the parking access and revenue control systems for its multiple parking facilities. Also, S&B was awarded the contract to install a new automated parking system at Santa Rosa Plaza, said to be the premier shopping destination in Sonoma County, CA. Also, S&B won the contract to install a new parking solution in the PS4 garage at the Stanford Hospital and Clinics in Northern California.



Israel-based Anagog Ltd., a smart-parking company with CrowdPark technology that crowd-sources real-time parking information, announced its Beta launch last month, providing drivers real-time visibility into available street parking. The technology is being rolled out to drivers through Milgam Cellular Parking, the Pango+ parking payment service. Also, Anagog has raised $1 million in funding, from a group of angel investors and entrepreneurs, to be used to accelerate the worldwide adoption of its real-time smart-parking solution.



Circontrol, a worldwide leader in parking guidance systems, has sold its fire and gas detection division to Detnov Fire System Products, also based in Barcelona. The company decided to focus its efforts on the mobility sector and EV-charging infrastructures. Detnov will manufacture and distribute the fire and gas detection products that Circontrol had previously distributed. It also will offer after-sales technical assistance service and the necessary support for new projects.



ParkWhiz, the website and mobile app that “introduced the world to the now burgeoning eParking industry,” has entered into a partnership with Ticketech, a leading provider of integrated revenue control and data management for attendant-assisted parking facilities. With seamless integration and maximum compatibility with third-party parking applications, its Ultra Suite will give operators who have implemented the app an all-in-one flexible software program for rapid remote support, enabling management to track incoming online bookings, and drivers to redeem their pre-paid parking passes.



Parkmatic, specialists in mechanical and automated parking systems, has introduced its rotary carousel parking system to the U.S. at Verti-Park in Downtown Brooklyn. Its three 43-foot-tall steel structures use a Ferris wheel-style car stacker capable of holding 36 vehicles in the space of six. Also, the overall development cost of each space is a fraction of that in a traditional garage, and usage is six times more efficient. “Space is one of New York’s most valuable commodities, and this system makes the most of it,” said Michael Zacharias, Verti-Park Owner and a Partner in Parkmatic Automated Carousel System U.S.

Smart Marketing Concepts has received certification as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) in the state of Florida. This signifies that the company is majority owned, operated, and controlled by a minority individual and ensures that the company can compete fairly for federally funded transportation projects.



Payment Express, a leading provider of payment technology, has completed EMV certification with Chase Paymentech in U.S. and Canadian markets for the unattended parking industry. This allows businesses in the parking, vending and self-service kiosk sectors to start accepting new chip-based cards using Payment Express EMV technology and Chase Paymentech processing services, well in advance of the October 2015 liability shift deadline.



Illini Precast has joined the AltusGroup to market, in the Upper Midwest, CarbonCast double-tees for parking structures. The fifth precast manufacturer to join in the past 20 months, it brings the organization’s number of North American precasters to 18. The company will manufacture the double-tees in its Marseilles, IL, and Burlington, WI, locations. The CarbonCast license and AltusGroup membership, said President Craig Wagenbach, will provide additional technical capability and product line expansion to meet the needs of the region and the parking industry.



MobileNOW! has implemented electronic permits in Fort Lee, NJ, by leveraging license plate recognition technology. The borough, the “Gateway to New York City,” is highly traveled by thousands of commuters. The George Washington Bridge crosses the Hudson River between Fort Lee and Upper Manhattan. Gloria Gallo of the Fort Lee Parking Authority said, “We believe both our commuter population and residential parkers will enjoy the added convenience of being able to register vehicles online and eliminate the hassle of printing or buying a physical permit from the parking office.”

LaMar Lighting Co. has received UL approval to offer many of its recessed fluorescent fixtures with various types of modular LED light engines. With one of the broadest product lines in the industry, the company can now factory-install LED engines in most of its linear fluorescent fixtures, including surface- and pendant-mount luminaires, through the LED Express capability. The lighting solution is designed to deliver the energy savings of LED technology, while allowing for easy fixture installation, maintenance and part replacement.

 

Gary Neff has joined Park Assist as CEO, and Itay Levy was appointed COO. Neff has more than 25 years of experience within the parking technology sector. Before joining the company, he led a joint venture with BMW to develop and deploy ParkNow, a mobile app designed to provide “yield management tools” for parking assets and to facilitate the development of in-car parking transactions. Former VP of Field Operations Levy, with his breadth of experience, is well-suited to lead operations across the world for Park Assist. His five years with the company provide him with extensive knowledge of the technology and parking industries. 



Genetec, a leading provider of parking enforcement and unified IP security solutions, has announced a partnership with automated payment systems manufacturer VenTek. Together, they now offer seamless integration between the VenTek pay-by-license solution and Genetec AutoVu, the automated license plate recognition system that is part of its unified security platform, Security Center.



Q-Park GB has launched a mobile rewards loyalty app, developed by mobile solutions expert Corethree, that enables customers to find a carpark in more than 50 UK locations, pre-book parking, and receive local retailer and restaurant promotions. The app, able to provide unique customer discounts, also has a navigation system to Q-Park carparks in the area.



Nedap N.V., headquartered in the Netherlands, has appointed Wouter Vansteenkiste as Senior Channel Development Manager of Nedap Identification Systems, a leading specialist in systems for automatic identification of vehicles and people, and wireless detection of vehicles in parking bays. He brings 18 years of experience in product and business development to the company.



HUB Parking Technology, which exhibited at the NPA’s 63rd annual Convention & Expo in the fall, also was honored as Technology Partner of the most innovative Facility of the Year, Santa Monica Parking Structure #6, at the group’s awards luncheon. The NPA Innovation Awards recognize companies and individuals who demonstrate professionalism and parking best-practices, while using leadership and state-of-the-art technology to improve safety, sustainability and bottom-line results.



Ken Shin has joined ParkingSoft as VP-Western U.S., and is responsible for overseeing and directing the PARCS manufacturer’s expansion and business development efforts in the western market of the U.S.. He has nearly 20 years of executive-level parking operations management and PARCS-related experience.

NuPark announced last month that Florida International University in Miami will be implementing its parking management system to assist in campus parking operations. The system is designed to leverage license plate recognition technology to help organizations revolutionize the management of their operations and realize immediate customer service and revenue improvements.



Parkopedia, the world’s leading parking information provider, has launched its service in China. That includes opening an office in Shanghai and the appointment of James Wang as Managing Director China, as well as the launch of an in-car parking service in the region for Jaguar Land Rover in partnership with Bosch SoftTec. This forms part of the company’s latest expansion of its global coverage. With the launch in China, its coverage has now grown to more than 38 million parking spaces in 52 countries.



Scheidt & Bachmann U.S.A. (S&B) has appointed industry professional Mark J. Martin as Executive VP of Operations to lead the project management and technical support departments. Martin, who started at the Burlington, MA, headquarters in October, is responsible for overseeing the project management and technical support groups on a national level. Also, the company noted that, since Nov. 1, Thorsten Braun has led the International Operations Department in the Parking and Leisure Centre Systems Division at Scheidt & Bachmann GmbH in Mönchengladbachl, Germany.
