EDC Corp. has added Kevin Fisher to its AIMS parking software sales team.  The company said he “brings years of experience selling parking management and enforcement products, and [will be] a great asset.”  His territory is the South/Central U.S.

Timothy Haahs and Associates congratulates the New Brunswick (NJ) Parking Authority and the city’s Development Corp., and the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital on the opening of the Wellness Plaza mixed-use facility. Some 1,200 parking spaces support the facility’s visitors, as well as Downtown New Brunswick and NJ Transit commuters. As parking designer, planner and consultant, TimHaahs contributed to the design of a vibrant “people place” for shoppers, transit riders, and residents.

The Marlyn Group has appointed Principal Victoria Pero, SPHR, to the U.S. Green Parking Council (GPC) Board of Directors. Over the past three years, she has been responsible for leading the efforts of the GPC credentialing committee in developing a comprehensive training and testing program, which will be the GPC credential for individuals within the parking industry.

Swiss precast manufacturer Prelco has become a producing member of AltusGroup – a national partnership of precast concrete manufacturers – as an International Affiliate. The company will be licensed to produce CarbonCast Enclosure System products in its European market area The Geneva-based company joins with Marxuach & Longo (Puerto Rico) and Verheyen Betoproducten (Belgium) in AltusGroup’s growing international footprint.

In other news, Tom Wunk, CAPP, has joined the company as VP of the PARCS group. He brings more than 37 years of industry experience to the position. He will lead a growing team of industry professionals with experience in implementing and managing PARCS on both the vendor and operator sides.

PolyBrite International joined with the Chicago Innovation Awards, the region’s foremost annual celebration of innovation, in New York City on Feb. 25 to close the NASDAQ Stock Market, the premier exchange for technology companies. The event sought to emphasize the surge of innovation in the Chicago area and to shine a spotlight on the organizations that make up its vibrant economy.

The 601 Travis Street Garage, a premier parking structure in Houston managed by Hines Interests, consists of 12 stories of parking with a total of 2,194 spaces. The garage offers monthly contract parking to more than 2,300 parkers, both lease tenants of the Chase Tower across the street and other downtown area workers. Some 1,656 spaces are set aside for unreserved monthly parking or transient (visitor) parking, and charged an hourly rate.

Los Rios Community College District, Watry Design and Webcor Builders recently opened the new five-level, 1,724-stall American River College Parking Structure in Sacramento, CA. The companies were awarded this project based on the unique design that the team developed from the college’s vision for the site. Said Architect and Project Manager Genaro Morales: “It was important for the college that this project did not look like a parking structure, but rather would make a striking architectural statement that connects with its surroundings.”

Desman has appointed Jeff Henriksen as Vice President in its Chicago office. He has 30 years of architectural and construction management experience. In addition to his on-going new design project and staffing duties, Henriksen will be administrative head of the Chicago, Cleveland and Denver offices.

ABM says that its ABM Parking Services (formerly Ampco System Parking) is introducing several innovative parking solutions. The technological upgrades include a customized mobile parking app for smartphones and tablets, along with a new client website for ease of service across all 2,000 ABM-operated parking locations in the US. It partnered with ParkMe to create the customized mobile application, which gives clients access to ABM’s parking database, providing real-time parking availability based on location, price, vehicle type and garage occupancy.

Dawn Newman, President of Newman Concepts based in Columbia, MD, is providing association and conference management for the Middle Atlantic Parking Association, Pennsylvania Parking Association and Mid-South Transportation and Parking Association. She also is working on special projects for the New England Parking Council and the National Parking Association.

Eric Braverman has rejoined Parkeon Inc. as Strategic Account Director. His major focus will be planning and managing the U.S. division’s growth segments, including public transportation and universities. Braverman first joined the company in 2006, working until 2011 as Business Development Manager for the Mid-Atlantic States. During that time, he established more than 20 projects in the municipal parking, university and transit markets.

The City of Fort Worth, TX, reported a successful first year for its parking paystations from Parkeon. Convenience and better access were the goals when the new paystations were installed across the city. A review on the one-year anniversary shows that the program has increased parking revenue (up 11%), while decreasing citation revenue (down 15%). City parking officials said a driving force behind those statistics is the paystations — now totaling 85 in operation, managing more than 600 on-street spaces in the heart of Fort Worth.

Complus Data Innovations, Inc. has added parking industry veteran Kel Parry to lead their Business Development efforts on the West Coast. As Director of Business Development - Western Region, Kel will market CDI’s suite of parking enforcement technology and processing services to municipalities, universities, and airports. His industry background includes Business Development for a leading multi-space meter and mobile payment provider in the parking industry. Kel brings his extensive knowledge of parking operations and emerging technology along with a large network of parking industry contacts to the CDI Business Development Team.

Carl Walker, Inc., a nationally recognized consultant in the parking industry, was recently awarded a contract to assist LHB, an architectural firm in Duluth, Minn., with the design of a new parking structure for Essentia Health in Duluth, Minn. Carl Walker, Inc. will provide both parking consulting and structural engineering services. The parking structure will be a stand-alone above grade structure. It will provide 400 parking spaces over multiple levels and will be built using a long-span cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete structural system.
