Street Sensor Technology Seminar Added to PIE 2013 Show Agenda

February, 2013

Parking sensor technology is topic one in many municipal parking offices around the country. Conflicting information is out about the accuracy and reliability of these “hockey puck” style sensors, which are placed in on-street parking spaces and transmit real-time information for use in rate setting, enforcement and

parking guidance.

At the Parking Industry Exhibition (PIE) 2013, Peter Torrellas, Chief Technical Adviser for Siemens covering road, rail, air and logistics, will lead a panel in discussing the ins and outs of this technology, The session will cover the experiences of tests held in a number of cities across the U.S., and will offer advice as to how to proceed in this most complex, yet

intriguing area.

PIE 2013, sponsored by Parking Today, will be March 10-13 at the Stephens convention center in Rosemont, IL. The center is across the street from the Hyatt Regency hotel where PIE had been held in the past. It is adjacent to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. For more information, log on to
