Hi-Tech Solutions (HTS), a leader in the optical character recognition and computer vision systems market, has announced that RevCon Technology Group, a provider of turnkey parking solutions for the Chicagoland market, has installed HTS license plate recognition (LPR) systems in the South Loop/Union League and Rush, Ohio and Wabash garages in Chicago. They are integrated into a new overall parking management and revenue control system from TIBA Parking. The HTS LPR system is designed to increase revenues with more accurate processing, auditing, control and billing functionality, as well as to reduce losses due to less tailgating, lost tickets and ticket-switching occurrences, enhancing self-park, valet and hotel operations.

ParkMe, which provides dynamic and real-time parking data, recently announced a partnership with INRIX Inc., a leading international provider of traffic information, directions and driver services. INRIX will source data, for both in-car and mobile use, from ParkMe’s comprehensive database, which includes more than 25,000 locations worldwide, collecting and aggregating data about both on-street and off-street parking.  

In other ParkMe news, it has also partnered with Colonial Parking to introduce a new website location-finder map and mobile app for iPhone, enabling drivers in metropolitan Washington, DC, to instantly find available parking at the company’s 250-plus locations at the touch of a finger. This custom-built application, powered by ParkMe, is designed to give Colonial customers access to ParkMe-branded mobile apps and its distribution network of GPS and navigation providers.

Digital Monitoring Products (DMP) has named Chris Bartholomew as its new Regional Training Manager for the Great Lakes and Midwest Region. He will provide technical training and support for authorized dealers regarding the design, installation, programming, troubleshooting and operation of DMP systems. Said VP of Training David Peebles: “With his impressive training background, Chris can ensure that our dealers in his area have the hands-on training they need. …”

MaxLite recently received a 2013 Top Products Award, for its LED floodlights, from Building Operating Management magazine. The awards, 100% reader-selected from 557 product selections, are featured in its January 2013 issue. Said Thomas Rhee, Senior VP

which was recently expanded with new fixtures for smaller and

Denison Parking has hired John Oglesby for the newly created position of Regional Vice President. He previously worked for the company as a Super Bowl consultant, strategist and market analyst. Based in Colorado, he will open and manage the company’s Denver office. Oglesby has been a specialist in large-scale public- and private-sector projects, property management client programs, on-street enforcement, facility design and innumerable high-profile events. He has participated in the design, build-out, modification or enhancement of 40-plus professional sports venues.

Frank Minnella, CEO of Lock America International, has announced that he will be stepping back from daily involvement in company operations to move to an advisory strategic role. “I’ve been active in the security lock business for over 30 years, and it’s time for a new generation to take over operations and marketing,” Minnella said. “Watson Visuwan, who is moving up from Sales Manager to Vice President of Marketing, has proven himself in many roles at Lock America over the last 15 years. With the promotion of Dan Walsh to Sales Manager, and the development of the rest of our team, Watson has the resources to take the company into new markets, while building on our success in our present businesses.”

The Florida Parking Association (FPA) has named the Miami Marlins ballpark garages a winner of its annual design competition. Timothy Haahs and Associates, with architect Leo A. Daly, designed the four structures, with a total of 4,750 spaces, for the team’s new 37,000-seat, state-of-the-art MLB stadium. The TimHaahs team, which also included contractor Suffolk Construction, designed and built the parking facilities, with 60,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial and retail space.

Imperial Parking Corp. (Impark), one of North America’s leading parking operators, with about 2,300 locations, has completed the acquisition of City Center Parking, a Portland, OR, parking management company that operates 198 facilities in Portland and Salem, OR, and Vancouver, WA.  The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Impark CEO Allan Copping said, “We are delighted to have completed the acquisition of such a well-established company.…”

Hamilton Manufacturing Corp., a leading manufacturer of automated payment systems, data access networks and change machines for the parking and carwash industries, has promoted Executive VP Steven J. Alt to President of the company. CEO Robin Ritz said, “His business acumen is a valuable asset to Hamilton, and we believe he will do a tremendous job leading this company into the future.”

Parkeon Inc., a global leader in multi-space parking systems, has promoted Jim DuFon to Vice President of Sales. In this new position, he takes on a “valuable leadership role” within the France-based corporation’s U.S. organization. Its President, Christopher J. Octon, added that DuFon also will have a key role in its overall strategic vision.

Russell Harms has joined Houston-based NextGen Parking as Regional Manager of Business Development, overseeing Central and South Texas. Previously, he was a District Manager for Towne Park for nine years. NextGen (formerly Protech Access) is a leader in delivering “next-generation” parking management systems, support and implementation services throughout North America.

As part of the NelsonNygaard vision to extend its approach to transportation planning across North America, Paul Moore has joined the firm in its new Atlanta office. A Planner and Professional Engineer, he has more than 20 years’ experience leading large multimodal planning and design studies.

Carl Walker Inc. was recently awarded a contract to assist the architectural firm LHB with the design of a new parking structure for Essentia Health in Duluth, MN. The firm will provide both parking consulting and structural engineering services. The stand-alone, above-grade garage will provide 400 parking spaces over multiple levels. Carl Walker Inc. also provided engineering and architectural services related to renovating the façade of the Bartlett Street Parking Structure at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, IN.

Circontrol SA, a top European manufacturer of innovative solutions for mobility and parking guidance systems, is looking for dealers in the USA. McMahon Associates, a full-service transportation engineering and planning firm, has added John W. Fuller, E.I.T., as Senior Project Engineer to its Mid-Atlantic Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Traffic Signal Department. He draws on extensive professional experience in ITS design and management on projects of significant size and client orientation.  

Code Blue Corp. has acquired a 34,000-square-foot facility that will be transformed into its new corporate headquarters and production center. The building, at 259 Hedcor St. in Holland, MI, will provide the company with nearly twice the space of its current facility and will ensure that it will remain headquartered in Western Michigan.  Construction is underway to upgrade the offices and production floor, with move-in expected this spring.

Genetec has further expanded its list of qualified storage solutions for its unified security platform, Security Center, with the certification of Pivot3 vSTAC Watch storage and computer appliances. Its recently launched Infrastructure Partner Certification Program is designed to qualify solutions from storage vendors to ensure optimal use with Security Center. The certification offers its customers additional storage choices designed to ensure the most efficient configuration of their security installations.

The Lexington & Fayette County Parking Authority (LexPark) recently awarded Scheidt & Bachmann a contract to replace its existing PARC system using the industry’s latest technology. The authority is responsible for four parking facilities, managed by Republic Parking System. The project encompasses 11 entries, 13 exits and 11 paystations. The PARCS, based on the S&B ChipCoin system, will be fully automated. All equipment will have front-facing barcode readers, providing for additional operational flexibility.

The National Ticket Co. Board of Directors has appointed Keith Bax as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He joins the company after a six-year stint with Research Data and Conquest Graphics, a leading e-commerce printing company. Bax brings a wealth of marketing, business analysis, and complex solutions development experience to his new position.

The Qaliber RP-E Series from the Thermal Printer Division of Seiko Instruments USA Inc. (SII) has been honored by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP). The printers were recognized with a JDP 2012 Good Design Award for the smallest footprint to free up space at the point-of-sale; fastest printing speed for a better user experience; and high reliability for low maintenance costs.

Amano McGann has appointed David Moore as Vice President, Airports.
