‘Dan’ Medlin General Manager at Winpark

Daniel L. Medlin passed away in late August in Houston after a battle with brain cancer. He was 55.

Mr. Medlin was General Manager of Gerald D. Hines’ Winpark Division in Houston. He joined Hines in 1990, and built the division into one of the largest parking operations in the city with nearly 30 locations. He supervised more than 80 employees at Winpark.

Before that, he was a City Manager with Ampco. He began his career in the industry with Central in the early 1980s. Mr. Medlin was nationally known as an expert on various parking challenges, and he had an extensive client list.

He was a 1975 graduate of Jefferson City (MO) Senior High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force and as a reservist in the Missouri National Guard. He received an associate degree in humanities from the University of Maryland, and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Houston.

Mr. Medlin had a big heart for animals and was a dedicated member of Red Collar Rescue, “an all-volunteer animal welfare charity,” to which he devoted countless hours in helping abused and abandoned dogs find wonderful, loving homes.

Mr. Medlin was born in Jefferson City, MO, in 1956. He is survived by his wife, Paula; his mother; a brother; and three sisters.
